10th-Jul-2009 11:08 am - Fuck T-com!!
Damn, some shit with internet again!

In the last few days I noticed our traffic increasing and the problem is that we have a limit, to 10GB, everything over that we have to pay additional money.

I always tried no to cross the limit, but something weird is happening now. Our total is 14.30 GB (and it's only beginning of the month!) and I have no idea how it got that high. The weirdest thing is, when I looked at the statistics, it's not the problem in downloaded data (which usually is, because of youtube and music download) but in uploaded data! And when I do calculation it appears that we uploaded almost 10 GB of something!! My mum came back from Pag last weekend and I know I uploaded app. 1Gb of data online, her photos and video clips. But that was it, everything else I uploaded was 6 photos that all together maybe had 5-6 MB in size. That mum's stuff was the only large upload we had, and when I look at the statistics it says I uploaded over 1GB of something every day after that big upload. WTF??
And it also says that I've been online 24hrs a day for 3 days! It's not possible, I turn off my computer when I go to sleep! Even if it was turned on there were no any actions on it.

Something smells really bad here! I thought that someone perhaps stole our wireless, but it's secured and plus the IP address is ours...I called the help desk and they told me to write a complaint but it's my word against theirs, how can I pursue them to believe me that I didn't upload anything?? Not only that we would have to pay additional 12 pounds but I won't be able to use internet until the end of this month! If I cross to 15GB it adds more money! Aaaargh!

We already had problems with this company but we are bound by contract at the moment...

Das Deutsche Telekom ist eine schweine! (only german I can put together but it's probably wrong anyway :P)

I can just cross my fingers that they find something and that we don't have to pay this additional money, my mum will go insane.

8th-Jul-2009 11:59 pm - Overheard on Split's streets
My mum and I went for a little walk this evening, icecream and coffee, she showed me around, what new stuff they built.

We went towards the beach, and on the way there we passed near the stalls with souvenir and beach stuff, like balls, floating toys etc. And there are lots of tourists going that way because coach station and train station is that way too. So those merchants there sit nicely and comment on tourists passing by, who - thankfully - don't understand comments. But thanks to my milky white skin they took me for a tourist, too. So my mum and I were passing by and we hear the comment:
"...they're a bit fat, but they're good..." and my mum chokes on her icecream while I turn around and say "Thanks so much, sir" and guy starts laughing nervously and turns his head away...

We continue walking and there's a (real) tourist walking our way, all smiles, very tall and very thin with very big backpack and there are 3 (other) merchants standing and looking staring behind him, commenting "He needs to be builded up a bit, he's going to break".

My people are so rude sometimes XD

I watched Twilight film on Friday - hey, hey hold those stones!! I know what you're thinking, I can explain!!!

So, erm, I read the 3 books from the series and decided to watch the film, because I love films, you know? I found books slightly entertaining and I was giggling while reading them, so I couldn't miss the film, could I? :D

As you probably expect, the books are not master piece, but they have entertaining side and are good as an easy read, especially if you're into romance. :D I didn't expect anything special from the film (plus, all the reviews I heard and read...) but my impression after (and during) watching the film is...WHAT THE FUCK HAVE THEY DONE??!!

I mean, yeah, the book is not brilliant material itself, but the script for this film...it's just...just...O.o I was literally rolling and covering my eyes during the film, even forwarded it...

Yeah, I could have few other critiques on the film, like acting (especially leading actress and one of the support male roles) and direction, but I think the script is the worst. I don't understand why they have need to change the sentences, places and sequences from the book?? I know that book has lots of details and they couldn't transfer them all to film, but some of those were actually really small details that would take up same amount of film time...I don't know how people who haven't read the book found the film, but for me...it was 'no no no!!! it's not like that!!'. The whole romance was practically killed... :(

I've seen films that had not so good story/book in background but had good script and direction, and films with very good book/story but films were terrible. So even with such book they could make quite decent film. I'll see what will next film from the series be...hopefully better.

Also, there was this great song in the film, that I didn't know who performs it, so I download soundtrack and it appears it's Muse! Of course, it sounded familiar! But while listening to the soundtrack I listened to another song, performed by Rob Pattinson, Never Think, and I must say, he's got really nice voice, and the song is not bad at all! I'm impressed.

Ok, now we can go back to your regular program posting.

She is so called Odd-eyed cat. We knew from the beginning that she's a bit odd...:P

I finally managed to take a decent photo of her, she's usually not really photogenic

She always chooses the weird places to sleep on so I have bad background...

5th-Jul-2009 11:23 pm - the List post, again
If I don't put it in a list, I'd post few entries per day and flood your flist so don't you bitch about it. i'm on the roll!! :P

  1. Ladytron is playing in Split on my birthday! I think that's how I'm going to celebrate it...cool thing is that my friends (some of them) like it too and they want to go on a concert so I won't have to worry about choosing between concert and buying them drink/icecream for b-day. The tickets are apparently cheap, I'll go and see where to buy them, hopefully the price I saw is true!

  2. It's a bit frustrating that I can't manage to set up a gathering with friends, they're either busy, on a trip or going to the beach...apparently, tomorrow they are studying for exam together, and no one seems flexible enough to change the hour a bit...I just told them to let me know when they are free...

  3. My father is supposed to come back from Libya mid-July so I might go to visit the family. I haven't seen granny in a long time...and hopefully he gives me some money :( And on the way to there I will stop by Zagreb and meet my friend or even sleepover at her place! I haven't seen her since September last year...

  4. I finally figured out AC settings!! Now my room is nice and coooool. Of course cats are trying to get it and sleep with me, hehehe

  5. My mum was on a little day trip yesterday to island of Pag in a seaside town that is for the last few years known as party place, with cocktail bars, naked dancers, drugs, orgies and people lounging in swimming suits on the beach day and night. She went there with her sister and friends and she took lots of photos and recorded short video clips of dancers, foam party and of course, took photos of herself in lounge chairs. And I spent hours today transferring photos to computer and uploading them online...She told me she wants to go back and that she liked house music, it's a place for her. O.o

  6. Look at the photo I took today

    u2 love

Graffiti on the wall in Split

Someone loves U2 very much...I love them too, but not enough to write a graffiti dedicated to them :P

  7. When I stayed with my last host in London, Josh, I watched a brilliant documentary film about Sigur Ros, Icelandic band that became quite big in the world. They decided to make a tour all around Iceland, free and unannounced concerts in public places. And well, since Iceland has not so many citizens, in most of the towns and villages they played there was just a little group of people, or no people at all. But what's so great about the fulm is direction and photography, the atmosphere and of course, the music. I got hooked on to their music!!
Here's the trailer for the film, Heima

4th-Jul-2009 07:06 pm - The List post

  1. Dan the Man - Guardian interview with Daniel Radcliffe (of Harry P films, if you don't know him, at least you'd know of HP films :P) It's a long and nice interview, talking about various topics, his interests, opinions and views in life, actually giving insight into his character. Something you can't really tell from taboloids and papparazzi photographs...I think he'll be 20 this month or so, and he seems to be honest, decent and mature person. Maybe it's all an act, just for public image, but who knows...Where he got me is: "I'd love to play a drag queen or transvestite, but not just because of the costumes. Wait, what am I saying? Yes, because of the costumes! If the script was good - I wouldn't just do it because I got to dress up.Although I maintain that I look good with eye make-up. And I'm not going to be an emo kid, so the only other option is drag queen."
  2. :D :D :D And from what I've read in papers and online, I think he's got good music taste, one more reason to like him.

  3. And I adore this funny, classy and sexy man!! I watched Jason Isaacs on Jonathan Ross' show, where he said Madam Gaga instead of Lady, I totally cracked up. :P And when he started talking about Jackie Chan!
    At 5.25!!!

  4. "WWII Enigma coded messages ‘were mostly inane text chatter" did I tell you alllll about my love for NewsBiscuit? They are serious news parody website. Get it? Today I read this article about nazi coded messages which after long research seem to be just...primitive leetspeak/netspeak.
    Highlights of the article:
'For example Nikolaus von Falkenhorst- Commander of German ground forces during Operation Weserübung sent a message in 1940 regarding fraternisation with the Danish nationals after the occupation of Copenhagen; ‘OMG UR SOL wiv her coz she iz wll fit ttyl :)’ This received the official reply from the officer in the field ‘stfu m8 UR a vrgn pmsl :D’

‘This message seems to suggest that there was a particular Danish woman who caught the attention of von Falkenhorst and his junior officer, and that neither of them thought the other stood much of a chance with her.’ Research shows that breaking the enigma code was actually achieved early in 1940, but that it was trying to understand the textspeak and emoticons that took the Allies so long.

Other examples of the inane rubbish that had to be sifted through by intelligence officers at Bletchley Park include a message sent from Hitler to Goering during the battle for Stalingrad; ‘wht u doin 2nite? Gt pssd l8r?’ and a series of messages sent from the Fuhrer’s bunker in April 1945 such as ‘Brd shtless. Tld Russns gtfo. Eva bad mood : ( ‘

These new transcriptions give us a much deeper insight into the narrative of the Second World War from the Nazi point of view,’ added Antony Beevor. ‘After years of analysis and study, I have noticed that at the beginning of war there were lots of smiley emoticons but interestingly at the end of the war, it is most sad faces. That definitely tells us something.’

  5. LMAO!! :D

  6. Some beeeeautiful artsy wallpapers for you!

  7. If you have Sony Ericsson mobile phone here are some nice themes for download!

  8. Today I found out that Croatian innovator Eduard Penkala, also invented hot water bottle and rotary toothbrush (among many other things)!

  9. And the song of the daaaay!!!

(8) P.S. Happy 4th of July to any USA-ns who might see this post :D

And I think this post requires creation of a special tag: folks that rock

Oh and I found Tori Amos, Björk, Coldplay, Neil Gaiman and some other guys there...

2nd-Jul-2009 07:54 pm - Hee!

It took me three days to figure out that there was another side to the tape. That was not the only naive mistake that I made; I mistook the metal/normal switch on the Walkman for a genre-specific equaliser, but later I discovered that it was in fact used to switch between two different types of cassette

LOL!

This is an interesting read...It's amazing how technology evolves...I remember my first walkman when I was around 12-13. It was ugly and plain looking but I was happy. :D

Btw, talking about this subject, my mp3 player died few weeks back :( I.Need.To.Get.A.New.One. Real soon. I want music with me all the time.

Oh, what a spoiled child of the modern age I am.

1st-Jul-2009 09:40 pm - Take the money and run...
So, today Croatian prime minister resigned. After 8 years of destroying economy, not improving almost anything and stealing as much money as he could, he's running away loaded before the recession problems. I'd be relieved if I didn't know that person coming into his place might be even more incompetent.

Seriously, I think this country might soon go into riots, overthrow the government, beat the shit out of them in the process and force them to immigrate somewhere. I wish.

7th-Jun-2009 11:23 pm - Little stories from life
Fishy?
My friend Daniel from the college has a (Spanish) friend who also came to UK to study English, but in Brighton, but now she came to my former college because she heard it's better.
So, Daniel invited me to go to the centre with them, you know, coffee, walk, spend some time, chat...So we met and the girl spoke few words in English, like 'hello my name is lalalala' and few other questions. And gave me that awful limp fishy handshake. Ugh. Is it so hard to squeeze someone's hand properly? You know, you put your palm somewhere close to the 'V' between thumb and forefinger and close the fingers around the hand, squeeze and SHAKE. See, not so hard, is it?
Anyways, we continue and Daniel speaks in English so I can understand conversation and so she can practice English. But no, he speaks in English and she replies in Spanish. And again, and again...Well, now that's rude. Even if she has broken English at least she can try. I know her English is not THAT bad so she doesn't dare to speak!
So 2 more hours I spent listening two of them speaking Spanish. Daniel didn't have much options; he did try to speak English but she kept asking him and talking in Spanish so he was automatically drawn to speak it too...The funny part is that I understood half of the things she was saying, so if she even bothered to look at me while asking him question about ME I would answer in English and Daniel could translate if it was problem with her.
Later on, just before we parted ways I told Daniel I want to go to supermarket to buy some food and he said he'll go with me, but when I realized it's actually a bit far I told him they don't have to go with me, because it will take them away from their path and I don't want them to walk for my shopping. Daniel still looked like he wanted to go and kept looking towards the supermarket and back at his friend and then she spoke loudly and in fluent English 'It's too far.' Aha, NOW you can speak English! Pffft. I like Daniel but not his friend, but I still didn't say anything.

And two days after that Daniel asked me if I want to go for a coffee and I was happy I could have a nice chat with him, but when I met him she was there too, ugh. So I lied: I said I had emergency call for a job interview and had to go. :( I really didn't feel like spending another hour or two being third wheel.

Forbidden love?
The lady I met on the plane when I was coming back from Croatia, Mrs J., let's call her, told me a little story when I went to visit her few days ago...

She came to London during the war and she got UK citizenship as a refugee. But she is older and ill, so she doesn't work and receives government support. I think every few years she has to have her case reviewed in court, and that's actually happening this year. So she has a lawyer who is on her case. The thing is...she fell for her lawyer. :) He's maybe 20 years younger than her and black. Not any issue these days, you'd say. But her generation and especially where is she from, would disagree. But that doesn't matter now, in this story.

She told me how she spends all day getting ready for the appointment: masks, hair curlers, bath, depilation, makeup, clothes...trying out clothes combination like a highschool girl :D

And then she tells me how he compliments her, how they talk about completely random things (maybe 20 % of the time is spent on the talk about her case...), how he calls her late in the evening on weekend asking about 'some document from her case he lost'...

I wanted to giggle listening all of this. To me, it seemed like there might be something. I told her 'Go ahead! Make the move!' Oh well, there is a problem of professionalism and the codex. But I'm sure she'll think of a way, she's cunning. :D

Bipolar?
This same lady called me few days ago to ask how I'm doing, with the job and accommodation...And somehow she started talking about certain topic...telling me about my goals in life and my plans and then turned the story towards Stephen Fry and the condition he has...and that my behaviour, my plans are classical in the cases of people with manic depression (old term for bipolarity) and that I should be careful, because those people make so much plans and have so many goals, they are very intelligent, but succumb to depression when it goes wrong or the plans don't come true or as they should.

Well. I knew I am indecisive, want many things to do, emotionally unstable and change moods very often and parts of my character are a bit contrasting...but bipolarity? I dunno. :/
